Green Chilli and Lemon Pickle




1 kg fresh lemons
1 kg fresh green chillies
150 gins mustard seeds
100 gins salt
1 tblsp turmeric
1 thIsp asafoetida


Wash lemons and chillies. Cut half the lemons. each into 8 pieces. Slit each chilli and then cut into 3 pieces.
Squeeze the juice from the remaining lemons. Grind the mustard seeds. In a thali, nalx well half the salt, the lemon juice and powdered mustard, turmeric, asafoetida and green chillies.
In another vessel, mix the remaining salt and sliced Lemon.
In a clean glass jar, layer the lemon slices and the chilli-lemon mixture. Continue layering, making sure the last layer is lemon slices.
After 15 days, the pickle will be ready.
